About This Site

This site is in no way affiliated with Hinterland, the developer of The Long Dark. I am only a fan who wants to help other fans find their way in the Canadian wilderness.

So far, this site is only intended as a guide for survival mode. These skills will, of course, translate to the "story mode", but there is currently no walkthrough for the story.

The Long Dark is a difficult game to learn, nearly all of it being trial and error. This site is intended to help new players get started, but also for experienced players to maybe learn something they didn't know before.

I'm trying my hardest to keep up-to-date with the latest changes, but please understand there may be a short delay before updates are published. If you see something that needs updated, please feel free to inform me.

Contributions

Right now I'm looking for experienced players to contribute a strategy guide for each specific region in sandbox mode. If you think you can help, please contact me and we'll see if it's a good fit. This is not intended to be an open contribution style system. I'm looking to publish only a few thorough, well-informed, high-quality guides. If your guide is used, you will of course be acknowledged as the author.
